It can be used to detect nonmetallic objects. These include liquids, such as acids, water, and oil; as well as granular materials, including grain, flour, and sugar. They are available in several housing styles, including cylindrical, limit switch, and flat pack. Most of the sensors are made of stainless steel or durable casting, and feature sensing ranges from 1 mm to 50 mm. They are ideally suited for “point” level control in flat-walled vessels and flow/no flow indication in plastic tubing.
